Evalutation Question 3:

What have you learned from your audience feedback?
I have learnt a lot of things from audience feedback, especially in the terms of improving work. I have used audience feedback to be able to know what I need to improve on a lot of things in all the different stages, such as research and planning and also during the editing and construction stages as well.

For example during the planning and research stages I had given surveys out to my target audience to see what they like to see the most in horror films. Their feedback has helped me find something that they all liked that wasn't even in the survey. They voluntarily added a new suggestion of what interests them in horror films. For example they had said that they liked unexpected. So we created a storyline that has our antagonist pop up in unexpected stages.

I I
have also learnt a lot from my audience feedback when I was planning the horror film. I had made a few people read my script to see what they though about my narrative structure. They said that they likes it, but that sometimes they found it hard to figure out the difference between the stage directions and the dialogue. And that sometimes they found it hard to understand the camera angles and shots. So I had to change a few things to make sure that it was understandable, for example changing the layout to make it look more clearer and then changing the font to be able to show the actual difference between the content in the script.

Another planning document that the audience feedback has helped on was the animatic.

Their feedback has helped me think about what to improve to my real media project.

I have also learnt from my audience feedback ways to improve my poster. For one thing they said that the writing didn't look sinister enough. So we went online to a royalty free website for fonts and downloaded the one that we agreed suited the feeling for the film. Another thing that the audience suggested was a slogan for the poster. So we came up with Caring is Daring. Caring as in the babysitter and Daring as in the threat of babysitting Ivy. Another improvement that they suggested was changing the colour of the background. So we blackened out the background.

In our film some of our target audience did not like the location of the film. Since it was set in what looked like an office they did not think that it set a horror atmosphere. So we changed the location and filmed in a house instead. They also said that they felt that the film was missing an element of more surprise so we added an extra scene and changed a few things around. For example we had changed scene 3 and 4 around. And we had added a store room scene. We felt that it actually added suspense to the film by doing this.
